nursing rooms & more...

with the festive season around the corner, we have been going out quite a bit - mostly to catch up with friends and do last minute shopping... and thus, i managed to 'check out' a few of the nursing rooms available in the local malls and here's what i think of them...
  • Suntec City (located at level 3, near toys'r'us and where all the 'baby shops' are) what i like: changing stations just beside the sink what i dislike: no privacy - nursing corner has no doors nor drapes

  • Forum, Orchard (located at level 1, near the washrooms) what i like: the bright cheery colors, rather comfortable armchair for nursing what i dislike: aircon vent just above changing stations (blowing directly on baby)

  • HDB Hub, Toa Payoh (located at level 2, near the washrooms) what i like: aesthetically appealing, nice comfortable armchair for nursing what i dislike: nowhere to put things @ the changing stations, nursing rooms are too small - cannot fit in my tiny aprica stroller



so there, another 3 nursing rooms reviewed... more to come, we promise!


i love to read and naturally i hope that claire will also pick up this habit of mine so i've been slowly amassing books for her reading pleasure. our dear friend Jane & bb Kaizer let us in on the borders 30% + 10% discount for members and so we went book shopping together... i love borders coz of the collection that they carry but hate the conditions of (some of) their book! its really no joke trying to find a (baby/children) book in good condition because they allow customers to sit around and 'enjoy' the books. here, being singapore, means you have loads of 'uncivic-minded' parents who allow their baby/children to 'destroy' the books... anyway, after hours of hunting... i finally bought these books...

Getting back into the hang of things

I realised over the past couple of days the reasons why I blogged so infrequently in the last two years...  1) I barely turned on the computer since I got my hands on the ipad since it practically does everything I need to do. The only times I had the turn on the computer was because some pages did not load properly on the ipad (namely those that were running adobe flash content though there ARE ways to get around that problem). 2) I suffer from insomnia only when I am pregnant and my creative juices only flow in the middle of the night when all is quiet (like now!) 3) Facebook has made it much easier to share updates and photos with iPhones/iPads So that explains why I have blogged more in the past two months than the entire of last year! :P and I suppose that means you will be reading more frequent updates on us for the next four months at least! we're left with 1 week to prepare for our little angel's 1st birthday party - so much to do and so little time! her birthday dress has arrived from US, together with her present from grandaunt (with a handwritten note to boot! see below... thank you grandaunt!)... i'm still waiting for the balance balloons to arrive though. :( today is little angel's birthday according to the lunar calendar and according to traditions, she should be fed 'mee sua' to symbolise eating real food and be seated within a circle of objects including wallet (rich!), ruler (teacher), pen (scholar), calculator (accountant), stethoscope (doctor) and so on... the 1st object picked up by the baby is supposed to be his/her future. if you are interested, read more . early this morning, i went to the market to buy chicken drumstick and 'mee sua' to cook for my little princess. i boiled the broth with chicken drumstick, minced chicken, onion, celery, carrot, broccoli, scallops and re...

byron bay, nsw - day seven

how time flies - we're on the last (full) day of our holiday - we've to be at the airport around noon tomorrow. i left the day 'unscheduled' just in case we were unable to cover any of the attractions that we set out to do but with God's blessings, we were able to cover all the places we wanted to go and in good time! we did not even need to activate any 'plan b' aka 'emergency plans'. so we left the day again in the hands of God - Praise Him! he made our family holiday a truly enjoyable and memorable one with a beautiful ending. we woke up early, enjoyed a good breakfast in the apartment before heading out - byron bay is roughly an hour's drive away from gold coast, roughly at the border of queensland & new south wales. its a nice, little bohemian town with excellent diving (i started off my passion for diving here) and gorageous beaches. cape byron is australia's most easterly point and on a good day, you can see dolphins frolicking...
