what's happening today?

- Opening of Tampines One (3rd shopping mall in Tampines Town) - my wishes came true : i had hoped for a cold storage for groceries & a HSBC bank branch to do my banking! no need to travel to parkway parade anymore! - Screening of 'The Sniper' starts today - starring the 'Nude Photo Scandal' Edison : i think many young gals swooned over THE photos (and wished that they were the ones frolicking with him) - Screening of 'Fast & Furious 4' - once upon a time... I love fast cars and quick action - now that I've become a mother, I have to value my life and consider the risks that I can take! (wished I had sky jumped in uni. days! doubt i'll ever have a chance to do that in this lifetime) Most importantly... my baby turns TWO today!

nursing rooms & more...

Image
with the festive season around the corner, we have been going out quite a bit - mostly to catch up with friends and do last minute shopping... and thus, i managed to 'check out' a few of the nursing rooms available in the local malls and here's what i think of them... Suntec City (located at level 3, near toys'r'us and where all the 'baby shops' are) what i like: changing stations just beside the sink what i dislike: no privacy - nursing corner has no doors nor drapes Forum, Orchard (located at level 1, near the washrooms) what i like: the bright cheery colors, rather comfortable armchair for nursing what i dislike: aircon vent just above changing stations (blowing directly on baby) HDB Hub, Toa Payoh (located at level 2, near the washrooms) what i like: aesthetically appealing, nice comfortable armchair for nursing what i dislike: nowhere to put things @ the changing stations, nursing rooms are too small - cannot fit in my tiny aprica strol...

x'mas; lights, shopping and more...

Image
we have been really busy the last couple of weeks, for a couple of reasons: x'mas is around the corner and there was plenty of gift hunting to do... once the gift hunting was done, there was plenty of gift wrapping to do... its the time of the year that i send out greetings to my clients, to 'tell' them that i am still around (and in biz!) in addition, there was a x'mas party to prepare for (for claire's friends) & this year, i decided that i wanted to 'create' the x'mas ambience for my little princess (being her 1st x'mas)... so i spent some time planning and buying the appropriate decor for the festive mood. unfortunately, i was unable to cajole dh to get a x'mas tree for the house - his reason; we simply have no space and our little princess will probably 'eat' all the trinkets hanging off the tree (no doubt its true)... *sighz* but well, i did the best i can... what do you think? (dh promised that we'll buy a bigger house and ...

busy as a bee (ii)

Image
i get this feeling that my little princess will grow up to be a socialite - even at such a young age, she already has lots of friends/playmates! let the pictures speak for themselves...   we (claire & i) have so much fun meeting up with other mummies and babies coz its so nice to have someone else sharing the experience. having adult conversations helps to preserve my sanity - despite the fact our conversations revolve mostly around our babies - and helps me to 'see' that i am not alone in this (arduous, nevertheless fulfilling) parenting journey.   i am finally going to fulfill my long overdue promise to write about the nursing /baby rooms available in SG - starting with...   1st on my list - Isetan's (located @ scotts & parkway parade)   why i like it: in my opinion - very 'thoughtful' changing stations with belly straps to keep baby facing up (my little princess rolls over every time we put her on h...

first hair cut by professional

Image
everyone has been complaining how 'messy' and 'long' baby's hair is recently (i think they're just jealous of her nice locks! hehe...) so anyway, dh and I decided to take her for a hair cut @ parkway parade. S$18 gets the baby a (nice?) hair cut, his/her own screen showing cartoons, free balloon (we didn't get that), and free hair color (daddy says will spoil her nice hair so no, no!). pretty expensive if you take into account that daddy cuts his hair for S$10 (mummy's hair cut costs much more but we shan't go there... :P) we met baby's yee yee (aka my sis) after the hair cut and she said she would do a better job than the hairstylist! what do you think? dh and i also spend some time 'car shopping' this weekend... seems like our 2 litre sedan will have to give way for a MPV in the next 2 - 3 years' time since we are planning for no. 2. obviously its still too early to be going car shopping but we do want to know our options. b...

the day before...

D-day is almost here... up 'til now, dear princess still won't make her grand entrance even after we "bargained" for a few more days. dr tan will not allow us to wait beyond tomorrow so we'll have to be at the hospital tomorrow @ 7am for the induction process (dr tan says she'll be out by lunch time!). honestly, i am having mixed feelings; slightly disappointed because i had hoped that i'd be able to birth dear princess naturally without the use of any drugs, extremely elated because we are finally going to meet our dear gal! * however, i am still holding on to the hope that she will choose to make her entrance BEFORE dr tan injects me with pitocin tomorrow * DH finally relented in letting me go out and get my hair cut and my brazilian wax done yesterday! hehe... and since i was out, i did more shopping for dear princess... i finally bought her some toys... and also a receiving blanket from Ralph Lauren coz ms kwekie complained that bb gals should not bro...

@ week 38

Image
its week 38 and still no sign of princess... been feeling surges on and off but definitely not regular and progressive (not according to Ginny's definitions anyway). i've moved in with my in-laws and chewy has been an absolutely devil - he's been barking every single night (no need to sleep ah?!?) and i think nobody in this household (or even the other households in the neighbourhood) has had a good night sleep. i am contemplating of moving him back home and let him stay there by himself. we could check in on him every day. obviously since i'm getting closer to D-day... DH has 'refused' to let me go out. its thursday and i've only gone out once on my own; on tuesday, i went to do some shopping (ok ok, quite a bit of shopping, i'm not known to be a shopping queen for nothing). my happy purchases - a exercise ball, which i'll use as a birthing ball for now. its handy to have during pregnancy, labor and beyond! see what they say about it. so instead of...

updated wish list

since i'm already into my 37th week, here's an update on my purchases and my wish list. i've bought most of the things that i'll need (or rather, that our princess will need) and here are the remaining items that i've yet to buy: - Britax Royale (which will be a gift from Claire's grandparents) - Medela Pump-in-Style Advanced Breast Pump (available @ all major stores) - BabyRock Carry Sling (from babejoy.com) - Bumper playmat (from babejoy.com) - Environmentally friendly diapers (from bumwear.com) - toys for her stroller (learning curve/lamaze, tiny love, gund, etc...) - bedtime storybooks (eric carle, karen katz, etc... ) can i also add what i would NOT like to receive?? - Brands Essence of Chicken (I get nose bleeds each time I attempt to drink that) - DOM (don't like the taste) - Milk Bottles, Clothes (unless they are equivalent to Carters or GAP! Princess has an image to uphold! :P) so you can see, we are more or less ready for princess' arrival. i...

*banned* from work

this is week 37 and we're moving closer and closer to the arrival of princess... my sweet hubby has officially *banned* me from work... he wants me to rest @ home and just prepare for princess' arrival. we will be moving over to his parents' place this weekend as he wants to make sure someone is around when i go into labor. :) its nice to just stay @ home and do nothing (i spend my time now resting, reading, listening to the birthing affirmations and relaxing). even my boss doesn't *allow* me to step into office anymore! my appetite has improved tremendously the last two weeks or so... and i'm so happy that princess is the one putting on the weight instead of me! hehe. i've started drinking coconut water (sticking to old wives tale) and also increased my bird nest intake to every day *when i remember, otherwise its alternate days*. :P we are supposed to see dr tan weekly from last week but unfortunately, he is attending a medical conference this w...
